What is a non-custodial crypto payment gateway (and why it matters)?
What does “non-custodial” mean?
In a custodial service, the money passes through an account controlled by the provider before it reaches you — it holds the funds and you depend on it to withdraw. In a non-custodial service, that doesn't happen: you register only your public key (an xpub, in Bitcoin's case) or your receiving address, and the customer's payment goes on-chain straight to your wallet. The gateway only watches the blockchain to confirm the funds arrived.
The industry rule of thumb says it well: “not your keys, not your coins”. Since Stackfy never receives your private key, it has no way to move, hold or block your money.
Why is custody a risk?
When a third party holds the funds, you're exposed to bankruptcies, fraud, hacks and freezes. The best-known case is the exchange FTX, which collapsed in November 2022 after misappropriating around US$ 8 billion in customer deposits.
In a non-custodial model, an event like that doesn't touch your settlement: the money was never in the provider's hands — it went straight to your wallet.
How does Stackfy do it?
With Stackfy you register only your wallet's public key/address (BTC via xpub; USDT via a Tron or Polygon address). From there:
- The customer pays and the money lands straight in your wallet — Stackfy only monitors the on-chain confirmation.
- You receive Bitcoin and USDT without handing custody to anyone.
- The cost is a fixed monthly subscription, with no per-transaction fee.
Frequently asked questions
Is Stackfy custodial?
No. Stackfy is non-custodial: payments go straight to the merchant's wallet (watch-only via xpub) and Stackfy never touches the balance nor asks for the private key.
Do I have to hand over my private key?
Never. You register only the public key (xpub) or the receiving address. The private key stays with you.
Can Stackfy freeze or hold my money?
No, because the money never passes through it. The payment goes on-chain straight to your wallet; Stackfy only watches for the confirmation.
Which cryptocurrencies can I receive?
Bitcoin on-chain and USDT on the Tron (TRC-20) and Polygon networks, with automatic confirmation.
